Seedbed cultivation means cultivating seedlings in a specific environment and nutrition. The original meaning is to cultivate seedlings in nurseries, hotbeds or greenhouses in preparation for transplanting to the ground for planting. It can also refer to the stage when various organisms are artificially protected until they can survive independently.
The basic requirements for nutrient soil for nutrient seedbed seedling cultivation: first, it must be loose and breathable, have strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities, soil air voids should not be less than 21%, soil pH value should be 5.5-6.0, and nutrients are basically complete and sufficient, but there are also Unlike container seedlings, the requirements for nutrient soil are not as strict, because seedlings in seedbeds can be replenished by fertilizing at any time just like field seedlings.
Nutrient soil formula (calculated by volume):
A, 0.4 cubic meters of clean fine river sand + 0.4 cubic meters of piled wood chips + 0.2 cubic meters of peat
B, 0.4 cubic meters of clean fine river sand + 0.4 cubic meters of stacked chaff + 0.2 cubic meters of peat
If the peat is insufficient, it can be supplemented or replaced with an equal amount of sandy soil, rice field soil, forest humus soil, or fish pond silt. Soil pH is adjusted with sulfur powder or slaked lime.
After the nutrient soil is prepared and necessary disinfection measures have been taken, it can be filled into the seedbed, properly compacted and filled, and fully sprayed with water to moisten it before transplanting. Sowing seedbeds must use "A" formula nutrient soil.
